Zelda's Original Gourmet Pizza
1415 21ST St
Sacramento, CA 95814
(916) 447-1400
Worth the wait: The Chicago-style deep-dish pizza is legendary,
and so is the service.
Best place to get pizza in Sacramento
Friends and I from UC Davis used to go to Zelda's
on Thursday nights. After a couple of months the staff actually became friendly!
My favorite is the pesto pizza, especially the crust. I'm not a pizza expert, but
this is THE BEST PIZZA I've ever had. I eat so much I almost get sick, I just can't
stop. Whenever I'm in Northern Cal, I make a stop at Zelda's. Pass on the "salad",
order ahead, and BRING CASH. If you're too tender and sensitive for the attitude,
head to a chain instead where customer service has a higher priority than the food.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Now If you want great or quick service this is not
the place to go. The wait is incredibly long just for a table and if you dont order
your food before you get seated then you are going to have another long wait for
food. Also, the service staff is so busy that they arent very friendly. However,
the pizza is amazing which is why there is not only a long wait but is the reason
this has been a midtown Sacramento institution for years. If you want to experience
what midtown Sacramento is all about and need a change from the suburbs then this
is the place to be.
I love this PIZZA!
All you Clowns that cannot stand Zelda's because the
waitress does not smile at you or is too matter of fact, and you think the service
is bad, well learn to live outside your damn bubble a little! I can't stand you sheltered
primadonna's! Zelda's makes one of the best pizzas in the Sacramento Region and
the place has CHARACHTER!!!! You know, like 60's style dimly lit shady CHARACHTER!
For those of you that don't like CHARACHTER, stick with your chain restaraunts!

Darn Good Pizza and a lot of "culture"
Ok, already all you tender souls. The ladies with
the trays aren't the prom queens or your favorite Aunt Bea. So what! It is the Pizza
afterall that you came for. I lived in Chicago too and yes, Uno's is very good but
Zelda's has nothing to be ashamed about here. The crust is unique---definitely an
artery clogger but Oh, what a way to go! The cornmeal and shorting combine in that
very hot oven in a magical way. The Sauce is basic but very non acidic with light
handed seasoning. We tried the veggie and the sausage and loved them both. Zelda's
is like hiking in the mountains, you have to endure the pain (wait and marginal service
at times) to reap the rewards (GREAT PIZZA). Worth the effort...close to the perfect
pizza for me and I have looked from coast to coast for over 50 years.

Unique, genuine, authentic
I absolutely adore Zelda’s! But you have to know what
you’re getting into before you go, that’s all. I don’t care about the attitude from
the waitresses or the wait… it’s all a part of the experience! And the pizza… oh
man… the pizza… it makes it all worth while. The only pizza I’ve ever had there is
the combination with extra cheese (get a large because the leftovers are AWESOME!!!)
Crust is to die for. I treat going to Zelda’s like an event and if you do it that
way, you can’t go wrong. (I highly recommend calling ahead at least 30 minutes and
placing your order, it’ll save on your cook time.)
A Classic!
If you want to experience a real city-style, brash,
brazen and bold pizza pie - this is it! Love the straight-up, in-your-face, be-real
service and the get-the-job-done, appetite- satisfying, most substantial pizza pie
around! Faint-hearted, spoon-fed, mall-rat, cookie- cutter, chain (restaurant) gang
whiners beware - this is not for you! Stay in the convenience of your limited little
worlds and leave more room for us who appreciate diversity and uniqueness. You'll
just be trampled by the crowd of loyal Zelda-ites. Worth the wait, and a welcome
chance to share with friends. Go big and go often!!!!
